Fort McMurray Stress & Trauma Therapy

Hi, I’m Chloe.

Welcome to my practice.

Chloe Beedham (she/her) BA, BSW, MSW, TITC-CT, RSW

Originally from Ontario, I moved to Fort McMurray with a short-term stay in mind. But in a tale common for this community, I became enchanted and put down roots.

Arriving a year before the wildfire, I've witnessed the hurdles our community has faced. But, I've also seen the collective resilience shine through, time and time again.

To be honest, becoming a therapist wasn't the plan.

I was actually studying business when a transformative experience volunteering on a sexual assault crisis line changed everything. Hearing the unfiltered experiences of survivors updated my worldview and ignited my passion for social justice. Before I knew it, I had exchanged the briefcase for an extensive collection of cardigans. Now quite the wardrobe staple after 13 years in the field.

During my early days as a therapist, I noticed a common struggle among my motivated and insightful clients. Despite their impressive coping skills and deep insights, they found it difficult to tap into this wisdom when triggered.

Determined to understand this struggle, I found myself taking a deep dive into neurobiological research. I discovered that when we’re triggered, the brain regions responsible for accessing these new skills and insights shut down. It became evident that relying solely on talk therapy wasn't enough. It felt like preparing clients for a performance they couldn't even attend.

I began training in emerging therapies rooted in this science, and clients started noticing something different—relief from their symptoms. My own experience leaving a session without a long-held phobia, deepened my commitment to offering similar healing experiences for my clients.

When I’m not in the therapy chair, I’m navigating the joys and chaos of parenthood alongside my partner and our two babes under three.
